Galician article

This page will give an overview of the articles in Galician. While in English we have only "the" and "a", Galiciaan has more articles because an article has to agree with the noun in gender and in number.

Definite Articles (the):

  • singular, masculine: o
  • singular, feminine: a
  • plural, masculine: os
  • plural, feminine: as

Indefinite Articles (a/an):

  • singular, masculine: un
  • singular, feminine: unha
  • plural, masculine: uns
  • plural, feminine: unhas

Note that unlike in English, Galician has a plural indefinite articles.

  • O / Lo libro - The book
  • Os / Los libros - The books
  • Un libro - A book
  • Uns libros - books
  • A / La casa - The house
  • As / Las casas - The houses
  • Unha casa - A house
  • Unhas casas - houses
