Учинчи дарс. Lesson 3.

мен - I
сен - you (sg)
у - he/she/it
биз (bız) - we
сиз (sız) - you (pl)
улар - they
учинчи - third

1. The words мен and сен are pronounced ман and сан in some towns and regions of Uzbekistan. In these cases the "a" is pronounced somewhat like the German ä.
2. Like many languages, Uzbek has two forms for "you" - сен, the singular, informal form, and сиз, the plural and polite singular form. If one wants to emphasize that one is talking to several "сиз"es the plural сизлар can be used.
3. Sometimes the plural сенлар can also be heard. Use of this word can indicate condescension or even contempt on the part of the speaker towards the people he is addressing.
4. In Tashkent the plural бизлар (pronounced биза bıza) is often used.
