Hi, I'm Ron de Leeuw. I live in the Netherlands and I'm a member of Unilang for already a quite long time. I speak; Dutch, English, Afrikaans, German and a basic of French and Italian. I like Romance languages, they have a certain beauty which I can't find in Germanic languages. Though because Dutch, my mothertongue, is a Germanic language I'm also interested in Germanic languages. Especially the little ones like Afrikaans, Frisian, Yiddish and Scots. And several other languages of course.
I'm not an amateur-linguist, like many people here on Unilang. I'm just a regular guy who likes to improve his English skills and want to learn some useful languages. Of course I'm a little language freak. But don't bother me with hard grammatical terms that might be too much for me. Fortunately, there are many people who are willing to do that job. So we can help each other always here in Unilang. I'm always willing to translate texts for other people. And I can give you some explanations about Dutch and Afrikaans as well.
