Saami case use

- nominative = subject case
- genitive/accusative = attribute, direct object, with pre- and postpositions, with numerals
Examples:
Dát (nom.sg.) lea (3rd.sg.) Inggá (gen.sg.) beana (nom.sg.) = This is Inga's dog
Mun (nom.sg.) oainnán (1st.sg.) dálu (acc.sg.) = I see a/the house
Lásse (nom.sg.) muitala (3rd.sg.) girjji (gen/acc.sg.) birra (postp.) = Lasse talks about a/the book
- locative = where? from where? also used to express possession / quality of something
Examples:
Mun (nom.sg.) orun (1st.sg.) Duiskkas (loc.sg.) = I live in Germany
Ánde (nom.sg.) boahtá (3rd.sg.) skuvllas (loc.sg.) = Ante comes from school
Inggás (loc.sg.) lea (3rd.sg.) dállu (nom.sg.) = "With Inga is a house" = Inga has a house
- illative = where to? also used to express dative meaning with pronouns
- comitative = with who? with what?
- essive = expresses a temporary state
