Circumfix

A circumfix is a type of affix that consists of two parts. The first part is prefixed to the root, whereas the other part is suffixed to the root.

For example in the Dutch and German participium perfectum, /ge-t/ or /ge-en/ are common circumfixes.

(1) (Dutch) gemaakt - ge+maak+t

(2) (German) geschrieben - ge+schrieb+en
