English Poem by Vogelvrij on Thu 2009-03-19, 16:05
The last few days I have been thinking: that blog feature, is it new or did I never recognise it? But now I found out that it's back again, which is great news. I have enough internet diaries already, but I could use this once in while too, maybe for posting (English) poems, because I have this opinion that everyone who writes poetry has to do challenges and one challenge can be to write in another language. Unfortunetly, when I post them at some forum and ask them for corrections, they most of the time say: "I don't get it" or "Great!" But hopefully you will be more honest, so if I have made a mistake in a poem, please tell! By the way, Twey helped me with this one.

Listen!

Parrots: Hello, hello, hello!
Owls: too- whit, too-whoo!
Elephants: harrumph, harrumph, harrumph!
Mice: eek, eek, eek!
Sheep: baa, baa, baa!

Apes: ook, ook, ook!
Reindeers: burl, burl, burl!
Eagles: squawk, squawk, squawk!

Frogs: croak, croak, croak!
Unicorns:
Nightingales:...

Em cal que senti la neu freda per a conèixer la meva ànima by JackFrost on Tue 2009-03-17, 2:10
Image

Phonology and root formation by DRfacepunch on Mon 2009-03-16, 18:55
Pilonja phonology is syllable based, like its scripts, which will be explained later. Consonents are very similar to Finnish consonents, and the verb system features harmonizing un-similar to Finnish. For romanized pilonja, capitals are never used.

The pilonja romanized alphebet for consonents is as follows, with IPA transcription beside:

k / k
n / n
t / t
s / s
r / ʋ
p / p
m / m
l / l
j / j
h / h
b / b
v / v
d / d
' / n/a

Romanized vowels are as follows with IPA:

a / ɒ
í / ɵ
ú / ʊ
u / ʌ
o / ɤ
é / ɛ
á / æ
e / e
i / i

Harmonizing in pilonja doesn't resemble vowel harmonizing of other languages. Pilonja vowels are broken down into 4 categories; rounded, un-rounded, hard, and i. Rounded includes, a, í, and ú. There un-rounded counter parts are, u, o and é. Á and e consitute hard sounds, and i is by itself. This is best shown by a grid.

aíú
uoé
áei

The rules on harmonizing: i goes with everything always. Where harmonizing occurs, a can change to u, í to o, and ú to é and vis versa...

French (Français) Faire un conlang. by phaed on Mon 2009-03-16, 0:54
