English French (Français) German (Deutsch) Icelandic (Íslenska) Japanese (日本語) Introduction by Anonymous on 2009-12-24, 19:17
Hello everyone, my name is Darryl Smith (you can call me Daru). I am 17, gay, American, and I speak many languages and I also want to try to learn as many as I can. While I do have an interest in foreign languages, I also like interior design. Learning languages for me is a passion, my talent, and my sanctuary. Right now, I speak English, Japanese, French, and German. I also love ancient languages, so I'm currently learning Latin, Ancient Greek, and Old English (on the side). Other languages I am learning are Italian and Icelandic. Languages which I would like to learn are Danish, Greek, Brazilian Portuguese, and (maybe) Dutch.

The king who didn’t want to die. by Leviwosc on 2009-06-21, 23:25

ImageRecently I translated a short fairy tale written by Godfried Bomans, a Dutch writer. The original text is in Dutch and I tried to translate it in proper English, but I'm still not very convinced about the text. Perhaps an English native speaker can check it. Here first the original text and underneath there's the English translation. I'd like to receive suggestions.

Finnish (Suomi) Kyy by lumiel on 2009-11-15, 9:19
Vähän kansanrunoutta tänne.
A bit of folk poetry here.
:yep:

Kyy kylmänahka kavala
Vihollinen viirusilmä
Maan nuora kanervakarva
Maan on sykkä synnyntäsi
Tiijä sykkä synnyntäsi
Maan kavala kasvantasi

Enpä tiijä karvoasi
Mikä karva lienetkää
Oo vaikka yheksikarva
Mustakarva, harmiakarva
Tahi vaskenkarva

Pirun riivattu purija
Et very miun verellä
Et liho miun lihalla
Sie sahaselkäsihisijä
Pitkähammaspaholainen

Mäne metsähän mäelle
Pakene pajun vesoille
Luikerra kivien kolohon
Musta mato mää mullan alle

Vie vaiva männessäs
Kipu kova kulkiessas
Noille tappotantereille
Vainovaivoille sijoille

Eläkä enää ehätä
Tule näille nurkiloille
Ruma roikale luikertele

Pirun riivattu purija
Et very miun verellä
Et liho miun lihalla
Sie sahaselkäsihisijä
Pitkähammaspaholainen

Mäne metsähän mäelle
Pakene pajuvesoille
Luikerra kivien kolohon
Must...
